COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Founded in 2016, Foghorn Therapeutics discovers and develops novel drugs to treat cancer and other serious medical disorders. The company seeks to discover novel therapeutics by using  a proprietary platform based on chromatin remodeling biology. Candidates who are passionate for innovative drug discovery to deliver new medicine to help patient care are highly encouraged to apply!

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This is a biology lead position to drive small molecule drug discovery program. This individual will work closely with the chemistry, drug discovery and other functions to drive programs from target conception to IND filing and beyond. He/she is expected to be involved in all aspects of the drug discovery process, in particular leading the effort on target validation, developing cell-based assays for SAR optimization, overseeing pharmacology studies for PK/PD and preclinical proof-of-concept, and leading effort on translational research. The successful candidate will provide biology insights on the target and therapeutic hypothesis to guide drug discovery efforts and translation into the clinic. This individual is expected to directly lead from bench, also work with research associates and CROs to perform experiments and biological research. As part of the biology team, the successful candidate also has an opportunity to contribute broadly in advancing validated targets to the drug discovery pipeline. The title will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Investigate and validate novel biology of the target.
  • Develop and optimize cell-based assays to support SAR.
  • Identify PD biomarkers for targets.
  • Effectively manage work at CROs.
  • Utilize internal and external resources to execute pharmacology studies and preclinical translational studies.
  • Engage key opinion leaders and collaborators to drive program to clinical development.
  • Mentor junior members of the biology team.
  • Present data and research findings in internal team meetings, review meetings and external conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in biology with a strong publication record.
