The company seeks to discover novel therapeutics that target chromatin remodeling complexes. Foghorn uses a proprietary platform based on revolutionary advances in mechanistic understanding of disease.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

We seek a versatile cell biologist with significant experience in developing, validating and executing cellular assays to support drug discovery programs. Besides supporting assay cascades, this individual will also be involved in investigating target biology/disease mechanism, identifying biomarkers and validating therapeutic hypotheses under the guidance of project leaders.  This individual will perform experiments, analyze and interpret data, and write technical reports and protocols. He/She is also expected to share lab operation duties. This is a unique opportunity to participate in innovative drug discovery and building a new company!

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute various cellular assays (including qPCR, proliferation, ELISA, HTRF and reporter gene assays) to support drug discovery projects.
  • Support biomarker discovery.
  • Assist in investigating new cancer pathways and chromatin regulatory mechanisms.
  • Use shRNA and CRISPR techniques to generate new cell line and disease models.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary team to support our research strategies and project goals.
  • QC and analyze CRO study reports and enter into Foghorn database.
  • Present at group meetings.
  • Participate in building out the research capabilities of the biology group.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/MS degree with >3 years of industry experience. Prior experience in oncology drug discovery preferred.
  • Proven competence in cell culture, ELISA, alphaLISA, shRNA technologies and other relevant assays.
  • Broad skills in molecular and cellular biology are desirable. Experience with immune-related assays is a plus.
  • Experience with liquid handling automation devices such as Bravo, Janus and Apricot.
  • Experience with electronic lab note keeping and centralized data management.
  • Demonstrated excellence in independently planning, executing experiments, data analysis and record-keeping.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to work within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Attention to detail, able to troubleshoot and manage multiple projects.
  • Flexible team player, comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment, and able to adjust upon changing priorities.
